Below are some questions that some of our Fort Lauderdale clients have asked:
Q: How much does it cast to get a bail bond in Fort Lauderdale?
A: The standard rate in Florida for bail bonds is 10%. This rate is non negotiable and non refundable. This is the fee for the bail bondsman to post the full amount of the bond.
Q: Is collateral necessary to post a bail bond?
A: In some cases yes and in some cases no. It all depends on the cases, severity of charges, prior criminal history, and a few other factors. If collateral is needed, usually a property in good standing or cash can be used.
Q: When is bail bond collateral returned?
A: Collateral is returned to the indemnitor after the case is disposed of. However, we do have to get the official discharge of the bail bond from the court which could take up to 45 days after the disposition of the case.
Q: What if the defendant misses his/her court date?
A: If the defendant misses a court date, usually a warrant will be issued. At that time a new bond will be necessary and the defendant will need to turn themselves in. If the court date missed is the same day that you noticed, you may be able to still go to court that day and prevent a warrant being issued. The best option is to call our office so that we can notify the court.
